Greenwich PTAC To Hold Anti-Semitism & Anti-Hate Forum
On Friday, May 24, 2024, at 9:30am, the Greenwich
Parent-Teacher Association (PTAC) will be holding a forum titled: "Anti-Semitism and
Anti-Hate: The impact on our Kids" via Zoom. Also joining the forum will be First Selectman Fred Camillo’s Anti-Semitism & Anti-Hate Task Force . Additionally, Erika Brunwasser,
Associate Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will be
participating.
In a previous post, we noted that schools are incorporating woke principles by diversifying course materials, teaching about social issues such as racism, sexism, and LGBTQ+ rights, and encouraging critical thinking about power structures and societal norms. Why, then, does the Greenwich PTA feel the need to continue pushing their social justice agenda on children, parents, taxpayers and residents?
We believe parents are more concerned with obtaining the best education for their children. Greenwich taxpayers, who fund Greenwich Public Schools and spend more dollars per pupil than most other school districts, are more interested in using these dollars to raise educational standards and have top performing students.
By contrast,
Greenwich PTAC appears to have no interest in these things. With Camillo and
his task force supporting this agenda, we continue to hear that wokeness does
not exist at GPS. Once again, we’re not buying it. In fact, by all appearances,
Greenwich PTAC, the task force and the Connecticut ADL are colluding to
normalize this agenda.
Keep in mind, Greenwich
PTAC has their own website page on the Board of Education (BOE) website with
its own Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee. Perhaps they should
focus their attention on ensuring a great education for children, hiring and
retaining the best teachers, fundraising for events and trips and thoughtfully
engaging with all stakeholders suggesting areas of improvement when
appropriate.
