The Representative Town Meeeting (RTM)

Greenwich is a town among several in New England, known for its unique form of government called the Representative Town Meeting (RTM). The RTM is the Town’s legislative body made up of 230 elected representatives from each of the town's twelve voting districts who serve two year terms, elected in November of odd numbered years. These representatives are responsible for making decisions on behalf of the town's residents, including approving budgets, passing ordinances, and making policy decisions. The RTM is often seen as a way to ensure that the town's government is truly representative of the people it serves. The RTM serves as an accountability mechanism to the First Selectman and the various Boards and committees.

In order to run for a seat on the RTM, a candidate must be a registered voter in the Town of Greenwich and a resident of the district they wish to represent.
