Tod Laudonia Kicks off his Campaign
for CT’s 151st House District
Tod
Laudonia, whose family has lived in Connecticut’s 151st Assembly
District for over 100 years, has officially kicked off his campaign to win back
the district from Democrats who picked up the seat in 2022.
His campaign launch party took place at the Historic St. Lawrence Society last night in front of a large, energetic, and united crowd of friends, family, and community members. Many current and former local elected officials were also in attendance. Including First Selectman Fred Camillo, State Senator Ryan Fazio, Tax Collector Heather Smeriglio, Republican
BET/BoE members, Republican
candidate for the 149th District, Tina Courpas, Linda McMahon (Chair
of the board for America First Policy Institute), Former State Senator Scott
Frantz, Dr. Michael Goldstein, and several current/former Republican Town
Committee members.
Tod was
introduced by his daughter Kristen who, among other kind words, said “My family
has always believed in the importance of contributing to the common good. It is
the spirit of mutual support and shared responsibility that makes our community
so special. As we look to the future, we remain committed to these values.”
Fred Camillo
stated “Tod knows the district, he grew up here, he’s been a student of
government and he has a passion to want to give back.”
Former
Vice-Chair of the Greenwich RTC, Joe Montanaro also spoke before inviting Tod
to the podium. Speaking about Tod he noted, “I have learned that behind his
cool, calm, and jovial demeanor there is an intense fire that burns with his
patriotic love for our country and his American-Italian heritage. Tod will take
that patriotism and passion to Hartford.”
Tod gave a
rousing campaign speech in front of the fully engaged crowd. He said “We need
to return to common sense. The avenue to achieve this is communication. I will
represent you all. You are not just constituents. You are friends and
neighbors.”
Tod has
previously served in public office as the Greenwich Tax Collector where he was
elected to four terms. He also served on the Greenwich RTM for 14 years where
he was on the Transportation Committee and the Parks & Recreation
Committee. Tod served as a St. Catherine of Siena representative on the
Greenwich Catholic Board of Education for 11 years.
Tod’s campaign website, VoteForTod.com, has
a declaration of intent from Tod on one of his main goals once being elected
into State Office:
“As your candidate for State Representative for CT’s District
151, I am committed to keeping and returning local control of zoning and other
governmental services in our Town and all Municipalities throughout our State.
I will be a representative and leader for my constituents.”
