The Noise Ordinance Hypocrisy 2.0

There appears to be an abundance of hypocrisy in Greenwich. If you don't follow the recently enacted noise ordinance, there will be consequences. That is, for the average Greenwich resident.
Aside from the fact that the Board of Selectmen gave the Town a a one year variance on their own equipment and times Town employees may use them, there are others who, despite knowing intimately the contents of the ordinance AND voted for its passage, still has landscaping employees using the gas powered leaf blowers on a property she manages.
A Cos Cob resident driving along Glenville street snapped these Photos this past week on their way to work after reading a previous blog that we posted Read Here .
The property is 36 Glenville Street, The mailing address of the LLC of said property is the same and is C/O Geralyn Rubenstein, an RTM District 9 Member who was re-elected for another term on the legislative body in November of 2023.
In the meantime, this was included in the weekly "Community Connections From Fred,"
"Leaf blower courtesy is needed.....
The 'Town Noise Ordinance Summary' are in effect and this is a transition yearn where everyone gets used to them. My office has received repeated calls, though, and we heard directly from one of the landscaping companies at the Board of Selectmen about people being very confrontational with them.
That is not something we are going to tolerate and I urge all residents to show patience and courtesy as everyone adjusts to these new regulations. We are better than that. We are not a Town where people get in people’s faces and yell and scream. The regulations are Greenwich law and must be followed but that is no excuse to harass people.
If you want to talk to them and explain the regulations, you can do it with a smile and a friendly tone of voice. I had landscapers on my street using gas-powered blowers and I spoke to them and they were very nice about it. If you approach someone and you’re snarling or trespassing on private property then you are setting yourself up for confrontation."
Perhaps Town elected officials should take a hard look in the mirror because the question we now ask ourselves is, why should any Town resident comply? They're not doing a good job setting the example.
