First Selectman Fred Camillo (R) has gone through with his threat to begin "doxxing" individuals who FOIA the Town.

The Right of the People to FOIA Should Not Be Infringed Read

We strongly believe that elected and appointed officials, departments, committees, commissions, etc. mut be accountable and transparent to the residents of Greenwich. Making the names public serves no other purpose than a scare tactic. Camillo continues his campaign of divisiveness rather than unity. This is the very same First Selectman who, with unintentional consequences, has Greenwich neighbors informing on each other regarding the Summer ban on gas powered leaf blowers. Once you come to this realization, the M.O. becomes obvious: throw the information out there and let the residents have at it with each other. Camillo keeps his hands clean and everyone else becomes the hunter or hunted. Privacy no longer matters and gives others the opportunity for more harassment. Is this the Greenwich we want to live in and be proud of?

Greenwich Started To Dox People Who Make FOI Requests, Spreadsheet Now Posted On Town Website Read

The Freedom of Information Act and its state and local variations should not be punitive to those individuals seeking information. What does Camillo hope to really hope to accomplish? Is he attempting to hide information or at the very least make it more difficult to obtain? His excuses that FOIA requests have become abusive is pure nonsense. Keep in mind, individuals who seek to FOIA must pay a nominal fee. It's hard to imagine that paying for information would become abusive in nature. Perhaps this would serve as a deterrent in keeping our local government accountable? Is this some form of political retribution? The more we think about this, the more we truly believe our local officials would rather information never see see the light of day.

Greenwich First Selectman Aims To Dox People Who File Freedom Of Information Requests In His Town In A Dramatic Move Against Transparency Read

We strongly urge the First Selectman to reconsider and rescind this ridiculous and punitive action against tax paying individuals who wish to know what their government is up to. Stop the divisiveness among resident and defend the right to free speech and accountability.
