Kamala Harris' Laugh: A Big Red Flag
While the DNC convention is taking place in Chicago this week, presumably to crown Kamala Harris as the "official" Democrat nominee for President, we thought we would take a look at her laugh, oftentimes obnoxious and annoying, leaving people to wonder what might be wrong with her.
Many of us
have witnessed on numerous occasions Kamala Harris speaking and then suddenly breaks out
into a nervous laugh. Some have described the laughter as sounding like a hyena
while others describe it as a “cackling” shriek. It’s obvious her “laughter” is
an attempt to distract or smooth over a serious question or to have been placed
in an awkward position. Most of us can’t help to actually laugh at her but this
is a sign of Harris being uncomfortable. Her nervous laugh is a coping
mechanism.
Hyenas are
known as "laughing hyenas" because they make a high-pitched series of
short, giggle-like sounds that some say sound like human
laughter. However, these sounds are not usually associated with hyenas
having a good time. Instead, hyenas make these sounds when they are
feeling threatened, frustrated, or upset. For example, hyenas might giggle
when they are in stressful situations, such as when they are being chased by
lions or when they are competing with other hyenas for food. The giggles
can also indicate a hyena's social status, with subordinate hyenas making more
variable giggles that convey frustration or stress, while dominant hyenas have
more steady and confident giggles.

A nervous
laugh is a spontaneous and involuntary reaction that occurs when someone is
feeling anxious, uncomfortable, or uncertain in a social situation. In other
words, it is an incongruous, mostly fake, emotional response to a situation
that doesn't necessarily call for it. It's a common reaction to stress and
can be a defense mechanism against uncomfortable emotions. For example,
you might laugh nervously during a tense conversation or while waiting to speak
in front of a crowd, even though you don't find the situation funny. It is often characterized by a forced or
awkward sound that is made in response to stress or tension. This type of
laughter is not a genuine expression of humor or joy, but rather a defense
mechanism that helps to alleviate feelings of discomfort or unease.
People may
engage in nervous laughter for a variety of reasons. It can be a way to mask
their true emotions and project a false sense of confidence or ease to others.
In some cases, individuals may use nervous laughter as a coping mechanism to
deal with difficult or awkward situations. By laughing nervously, they can
temporarily distract themselves from their worries and fears.
Nervous
laughter can also be a way to seek approval or validation from others. When
faced with a challenging or unfamiliar situation, some people may laugh
nervously in the hopes of eliciting a positive response from those around them.
This type of laughter can be a way to break the tension and create a more
relaxed atmosphere. In reality, the term “cinge” comes to mind.
In addition,
nervous laughter can be a sign of social awkwardness or insecurity. People who
struggle with low self-esteem or confidence may use laughter as a way to mask
their insecurities and appear more at ease in social settings. This type of laughter
can be a way to deflect attention away from their perceived flaws or
shortcomings, especially when you’re “burdened by what’s been unburdened,”
whatever that means.
Furthermore,
nervous laughter can be a result of a lack of social skills or emotional
intelligence. Some individuals may struggle to navigate social interactions and
may resort to laughing nervously as a way to cope with stressful or
uncomfortable situations. This type of laughter can be a way to fill awkward
silences or avoid confrontations. However, if nervous laughter becomes a
frequent or excessive response, it may be a sign of underlying emotional or
psychological issues that need to be addressed.
It is also
important to consider the impact that nervous laughter can have on others.
While laughter is often seen as a positive and enjoyable experience, nervous
laughter can sometimes be perceived as insincere or inappropriate and gives the
perception of incompetence. People may feel uncomfortable or confused when
faced with someone who is laughing nervously, especially if the laughter seems
out of context or out of place.
What this
country really needs right now is an individual who is strong, confident and
has the ability to cope under very stressful situations. The office of the President
is serious with significant implications for America and the world. The
individual holding this office must be knowledgeable in domestic and
international affairs.
Kamal Harris
is not that person.
