Dear Establishment Republicans, We're Tired of Your "Bipartisanship"

Bipartisanship, the concept of both political parties working together towards common goals, is often seen as a key component of a functioning democracy. In a state like Connecticut, where the political landscape is largely dominated by Democrats, the idea of bipartisanship only benefits one side of the aisle. This is because bipartisanship tends to work in favor of the party that holds power, which in Connecticut's case, is the Democratic Party. Despite the intentions of bipartisanship to promote compromise and cooperation between parties, it always leads to unequal outcomes and favoritism of the Democrat agenda.

One of the main reasons why bipartisanship always works in favor of Connecticut Democrats is the sheer number of Democratic representatives in the state legislature. With Democrats holding a majority in both the state House and Senate, they have more power to push their agenda and initiatives through, even with some bipartisan support. This often means that any compromises made in a bipartisan manner are more likely to align with Democratic priorities and policies. Connecticut establishment Republicans are often all too happy to help out.

Additionally, the Democratic Party in Connecticut tends to have a more unified stance on key issues compared to the Republican Party. This cohesion within the Democratic Party allows them to present a more united front when working on “bipartisan” initiatives, making it easier for them to push through their agenda. On the other hand, the Republican Party in Connecticut struggles to find common ground and present a unified voice, making it more challenging for them to benefit from bipartisanship. Establishment Republicans are interested in obtaining or retaining their position. This includes crossing the aisle, then telling us it was in our best interest. Defending their vote to pass Democrat agendas is insulting to every Republican voter, particularly when many bills are radical and socialist in nature. These bills which are passed into law with the help of Republican enablers, does a gross disservice to the Republican base, the very voters who sent them to Hartford to represent THEM.

Another factor that contributes to bipartisanship working in favor of Connecticut Democrats is the state's political culture. Connecticut has a history of leaning towards more liberal policies and values, which means that even in bipartisan efforts, the outcomes are often more aligned with Democratic ideology, especially in urban centers such as Hartford, Bridgeport, Stamford, Waterbury and New Haven just to name a few. This can be seen in areas such as healthcare, education, taxes, energy, crime, etc., where so-called bipartisan agreements lean towards more liberal “solutions” or agendas.

Furthermore, the influence of interest groups and lobbyists in Connecticut plays a large role in how bipartisanship unfolds. These groups often have closer ties to the Democratic Party, leading to more influence over bipartisan negotiations and outcomes. This usually results in policies that lean towards Democratic and “progressive” priorities and benefit their agenda, further demonstrating how bipartisanship usually works in favor of Connecticut Democrats.

It is also important to consider the role of public opinion in shaping bipartisan efforts in Connecticut. With the majority of the state's population leaning towards more liberal viewpoints, there is a greater demand for policies that align with Democratic values. As a result, even in cases of bipartisanship, the outcomes may still cater more towards Democratic priorities, reflecting the preferences of the majority of Connecticut residents.

Moreover, the media landscape in Connecticut may also contribute to how bipartisanship is perceived and executed. Media outlets in the state, many of them Democrat aligned, have biases towards one party over the other, that being the Democrat Party, which largely influences the narrative surrounding bipartisan efforts. This generally creates a more favorable environment for Democrats, as the media frames their initiatives in a more positive light compared to those of the Republican Party.

Additionally, the history of bipartisanship in Connecticut also plays a role in how it benefits Democrats. Past examples of successful bipartisan efforts and collaboration between Democratic and Republican lawmakers, makes it easier for Democrats to secure bipartisan support for their initiatives. This history of cooperation always gives Democrats an advantage when it comes to shaping the outcomes of bipartisanship.

It’s interesting that establishment Republicans are good with this. These very issues that need to change or be solved were created with the help of these very “Republicans” who enabled for passage of these bill in the first place. Every election cycle, they start campaigning and making promises that if you vote them in or give them another term, they will “work hard” to make the necessary changes. Republicans need issues they can run on. By continually playing the “bipartisan” game, they will always have issues to run on. Their intent is not actually solving the problem because Democrats will make their political life difficult and if you’re planning to be a career politician, you either play ball or leave the game. As you know, they usually choose to remain in the game playing by Democrat rules because they actually have the ball.

Keep in mind, these Republicans are finding it very difficult to publicly support and endorse former President Donald Trump. Trump is the Republican nominee for President in the upcoming November 5th elections. Additionally, they don’t endorse the America First policies that will put America back on track. This is very telling. It appears they want to play the Democrat game regardless of Republican base sentiments. This is not about you, the republican voter. This is about power and self-prioritized personal agendas.

Connecticut residents, including Greenwich and across the country are fed up with the establishment. We have made this very clear. Trump is polling very well; Democrat voters and politicians are endorsing him more and more with each passing day. It’s ridiculous to think that not EVERY Republican candidate is openly endorsing the GOP Presidential candidate. With Democrats beating a communist path for our country, they all stand united with their candidate Kamala Harris.

Stop the bipartisan nonsense already, stand up for true Republican principles or leave the game. We’re tired of waiting for Greenwich and America to be “saved.”

We're on X: @gwvact
