In today's
fast-paced, digital world, information is readily available at our fingertips.
With the rise of social media and online news sources, it has become
increasingly important to critically evaluate the information we consume. One
area that deserves particular scrutiny is the legacy media, which includes established
newspapers such as the Washington Post, television networks like CNN, MSNBC,
ABC etc., and other longstanding news outlets. These organizations have come
under fire in recent years for biased reporting, programming, sensationalism,
and a lack of transparency. At times, many of their “facts” are not facts at
all but gross exaggerations, lies and misinformation As a result, it is
essential for Americans to stop blindly trusting the legacy media and instead
approach their reporting with a critical eye.
Many
traditional legacy news outlets have political or corporate agenda that
influences the “stories” they cover and HOW they are presented. This purposely
leads to a skewed perspective on important issues and prevent viewers from getting
a full and accurate picture of the world around them. By being aware of this
bias and seeking out alternative sources of information, individuals can better
educate themselves and form their own opinions on current events.
Additionally,
the legacy media shoots for prioritizing sensationalism over accuracy. In an
effort to attract dwindling viewers and increase ratings, some news outlets
resort to sensationalizing stories or exaggerating the facts in order to make
them more engaging. This leads to misinformation and distort the truth,
ultimately undermining the credibility of the media as a whole. By recognizing
these tactics and holding news organizations accountable for their reporting, Americans
can help ensure that they are receiving accurate and reliable information.
Furthermore,
the legacy media lacks transparency in their reporting practices. Many news
outlets fail to disclose their sources (some don’t exist) or provide the
necessary context for their stories, making it difficult for viewers to fully
understand the information being presented. This lack of transparency has eroded
trust in the media and leave Americans questioning the validity of the news
they are receiving. By demanding more transparency from news organizations and
seeking out independent verification of the facts, individuals can feel more
confident in the information they are consuming.
Moreover,
the rise of social media has also changed the way news is distributed and
consumed. With the advent of platforms like Facebook Twitter (X), Truth Social,
Youtube, Rumble, etc., anyone can become a news source and share information
with a wide audience. While social media has the potential to democratize the
news and allow for a diversity of perspectives. Democrats, liberals and the
legacy media itself continue to claim that citizen journalists report misinformation
and fake news because the no longer control the narrative. With just about
everyone on the planet with a device in their hands, information is
instantaneous with true firsthand accounts. More people are turning to social media
for their news and entertainment. The legacy media has been relegated to a
dinosaur.
Much of the
frustration with the legacy media is the context in which they present their
reports. There are countless videos presented that show clear bias because they
take “snippets” of these videos and manipulates what Americans see without full
context to push their agenda. The same is true of legacy print media where quotes
are not printed in their entirety, again manipulating what Americans absorb as
news.
Clearly, the
legacy media is having a difficult time remaining relevant. While many of these
outlets are trying to regain traction by posting on social media, their biased
content still proves their audience is dwindling. The lack of trust is evident
in their ratings. They have made their agenda clear by operating as a Democrat
Party asset.
Ours does.
