Current Greenwich RTC Disguised as Republicans
With a major election on the horizon, it's still surprising that establishment Republicans in Greenwich and across the state have not figured out that the walls are closing in on them. Actually, it should not really be a surprise. After all, their only interest is keeping the status quo. In other words, keep vesting them with power and they will do what they do best: "bipartisanship." When they're not doing that, they do much of nothing else except whine and complain about how Democrats legislate absurdity, which establishment Republicans allow to happen.
Unfortunately, what they don't see (or do not want to see) is the huge advantage they have with former President Trump at the top of the Republican ticket. Almost every poll out there shows Trump leading. His America First policies are generating a lot of support for him, even from some Democrats, who see the alternative as destructive. While establishment Republicans do their very best to distance themselves from Trump, Connecticut Republican voters, along with many other states see Trump's policies as beneficial. It's obvious Americans want change. Connecticut residents want change. Democrats are literally destroying the state with their policies.
The Greenwich Republican Town Commitee (RTC) finds itself in a very interesting position. While they certainly have an edge from Trump, they are not riding his coattails to victory. In fact, if you were to look at their website, Trump is not listed under the "Federal" category under the list of Republican Candidates. Last we recall, Trump is a Republican and is running for federal office. Is this an oversight? No, it isn't. It's an omission and an intentional one at that. Matt Cory (R) who is running for US Senate from Connecticut is also not listed. Is he not also a Republican running for federal office? Why the omissions? Perhaps it doesn't fit their status quo agenda or maybe they see America First candidates as a threat to their do-nothing power.
True Republicans want change in Connecticut and across the country. Unfortunately, establishment Republicans are not into the America First change that Americans are desperately seeking. Greenwich RTC and their surrogates are doing everything in their power to keep those kinds of policies out of Greenwich, Connecticut and America.
The current make-up of the RTC drastically changed last year with the Republican establishment gaining more seats and hard-working members were voted out with the help of First Selectman Fred Camillo (R) and Selectwoman Lauren Rabin (R). Both were instrumental in returning the establishment Republicans back into power after a successful past term by placing their hands on the scales. Camillo and Rabin are establishment Republicans as well as the leadership of the Greenwich RTC. We want to clear, however, there are members of the GRTC, who are non-establishment Republicans making every attempt to bring common sense to the forefront.
Rumors have been circulating that the current RTC is having some difficulties with their messaging and support. Clearly, their message is not resonating with many Republican voters. In one camp, Republican voters are tired of establishment Republicans. In the other, Republican voters believe voting Republican, regardless of who the candidate might be is better than voting Democrat. Be careful what you wish for. Keep in mind that voting for establishment Republican candidates who do not support Trump or America First candidates, is the same as voting in a Democrat. These so-called Republicans will enable every piece of ridiculous legislation that Democrats put forward. This is what's called the "uni-party." Establishment Democrats and Republicans are one in the same.
We did some research of other town RTCs randomly in the state and found some interesting endorsements on their websites with regards to publicly listing and endorsing former President Trump, Matt Corey, Michael Goldstein (Candidate for US House of Representatives - 4th District) and Tod Laudonia (candidate for CT General Assembly - 151st District).
Westport RTC: Publicly endorses Goldstein and Carey. No Trump support or listing.
Fairfield RTC. None of the candidates listed or endorsed.
Norwalk RTC: Publicly endorses Goldstein and Coorey. No Trump support or listing.
Newtown RTC: No listing of candidates.
Shelton RTC: Publicly endorses Trump, Goldstein, Corey. Signs available for all candidates for supporters.
