While this organization appears to have election integrity ideals, what is not discussed is where their funding comes from, specifically in the form of these "grants," better known as "Zuckerbucks." Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook and his other social media platforms, have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars toward USAFEE and CTCL (Center for Tech and Civic Life).  By all appareances, these two organizations are shady at best.

Zuckerberg has been accused of collaborating with the federal government in censoring information and content posted by conservative figures and average Americans on his platforms, with many oftentimes being suspended for "violating community guildelines" or content ubale to be posted. Liberals and progressives rarely had to experience this. It's no secret that Zuckerberg leans left and collabroated with other Big tech companies to suppress information, especially when it came to the Covid-19 pandemic and the 2020 Presidential election.

DeCaro and Hegarty presented their proposal to receive the $500 thousand grant to all the RTM districts meetinngs. Theu fielded numerous questions and concerns, many of which no satisifactory answers were given. The full RTM would eventially accept and approve this money by a small margin, (Vote On $500K Grant Stands After Greenwich RTM Motion To Rescind Fails) Read More .

We still have questions:

  • Why did the Town need to accept this grant when the Registrar's office has always been fully funded, including line items they have requested?
  • Why was Greenwich chosen as a "Center of Excellence" when the purpose of the grant monies are to be used for communities who are in need of funds to properly operate their election process?
  • Why is Greenwich allowing itself to be influenced by outside money?
  • Has effective due diligence been made to peel away all the layers of CTCL and USAFEE to see exactly who has been donating to these organizations?
  • A condition of the grant is to work collaboratively with the organizations and other member communities to share information and "best practices".  How safe will our information be?

Residents should really ask themselves these questions and all candidates campaigning for office. True Republican principles mean election integrity and ethics without outside interference. We would expect nothing less from our Registrars of Voters to be competent, keep high standards and accountable.
