At the core of Republican values is the belief in limited government intervention in the lives of individuals. Republicans emphasize the importance of individual responsibility and self-reliance in that government should play a minimal role in regulating and controlling the lives of its citizens. This limited government approach is based on the belief that individuals are best able to make decisions for themselves and should not be overly burdened by government regulations and interference.
