The Sanctuary State of Connecticut: Will Republican Candidates Call This out?

Connecticut, one of number of Democrat controlled “blue states,” has gained attention for its designation as a sanctuary state when the state legislature passed the Trust Act which then - Governor Dannel Malloy signed into law in 2013. This policy, which limits cooperation with federal immigration authorities in order to protect illegal aliens, has sparked controversy and debate across the state. There are several reasons why the sanctuary state status of Connecticut is bad for both its residents and the overall wellbeing of the state.

Firstly, the sanctuary state status of Connecticut undermines the rule of law. By refusing to cooperate with federal authorities in enforcing immigration laws, the state is essentially promoting lawlessness and creating a culture of impunity for those who choose to break the law. This sends a dangerous message to both citizens and illegal aliens, suggesting that it is acceptable to flout the law without consequences. Keep in mind that Democrats publicly continue to state that "no one is above the law."

Furthermore, the sanctuary state status of Connecticut poses a threat to public safety. By shielding illegal aliens from potential deportation, the state is allowing individuals who may have criminal histories or pose a danger to society to remain in the country unchecked. This puts not only illegal aliens at risk, but also law-abiding citizens who deserve to feel safe in their communities.

In addition, the sanctuary state status can have negative economic implications. By harboring illegal aliens and discouraging cooperation with federal authorities, the state may be hindering its ability to attract and retain businesses looking for a stable and law-abiding environment. This could ultimately lead to a decrease in economic growth and prosperity for the state as a whole.

Moreover, the sanctuary state status may strain resources and services that are meant to benefit residents. With a potentially increased population of illegal aliens in need of healthcare, education, and social services, the state may find itself struggling to meet the needs of both its citizens and those who are residing in the country illegally. This could lead to a decrease in the quality and availability of services for all residents. Remember, all these services are taxpayer funded.

In addition, this may also result in an increase in crime and substance abuse. With illegal aliens being allowed to remain in the country without fear of deportation, criminal elements have taken advantage of this leniency and engage in illegal activities that harm communities. There have been numerous reports of rapes, injuries, assaults and death at the hands of illegal aliens. Many Democrat prosecutors and judges fail to hold these criminals accountable, all for a political agenda. This can have a detrimental impact on the safety and wellbeing of residents.

Furthermore, the sanctuary state status of Connecticut may create tension and division among its residents. By prioritizing the needs and rights of illegal aliens over those of citizens, the state risks alienating a portion of its population and breeding resentment among different groups. This can lead to social unrest and detract from the sense of unity and cohesion that is necessary for a thriving community.

Moreover, the sanctuary state status of Connecticut may also have implications for national security. By refusing to cooperate with federal authorities in enforcing immigration laws, the state is potentially making it easier for individuals with malicious intent to enter and remain in the country undetected. This poses a significant risk to the safety and security of the entire nation, not just those residing in Connecticut.

In addition, the sanctuary state status may also lead to a breakdown in trust between local and federal authorities. By openly defying federal immigration laws and refusing to cooperate with enforcement efforts, the state is jeopardizing its relationship with the federal government and undermining the principle of federalism. This can have long-lasting consequences for the state's ability to work effectively with federal agencies on a range of issues.

Illegal immigration is one of the major issues facing our nation. While Democrat politicians support open borders, many Americans on both sides of the political spectrum have made it clear they want the border secured. Trump has pledged that he would once again secure the border if he is elected.

In the meantime, while millions enter the country illegally, Connecticut continues to be an extension of the DC swamp by publicly accepting and harboring those who should not be in the country in the first place.

Connecticut must stop rewarding this criminal activity by voting out Democrats. On the other hand, Republicans must make this an issue as it not only has a significant impact on Connecticut but Greenwich as well.

Republicans and Republican candidates must call this out at every opportunity and restore the safety and sovereignty of our Town, state and country.
