Why Is Ryan Fazio Pandering to Democrats?
Things appear to be heating up online for Connecticut State Senator Ryan Fazio.
Last night Fazio, who is running for re-election in the Connecticut State Senate representing the 36th district, posted on X (formerly Twitter) a congratulatory note to current Westchester County, NY Executive George Latimer (D) for winning his primary against Jamaal Bowman. Latimer himself is running as a Congressional Candidate for NY-16 . Fazio describes Latimer as "a good neighbor to work with and "His defeat of progressive Jamaal Bowman is a win for pragmatism and a loss for ideology. Hopefully he heeds that lesson!"
Fazio, and others in our local and state government, represent the growing alienation within the Republican Party.
Keep in mind that Democrats and establishment Republicans continue to publicly call out other Republicans as "extremists" and the "far right wing." These so called "extremists" worked very hard in securing a Republican win across the board in last November's municipal elections. The name calling only goes to prove that certain elements of the Republican Party have no real interest in winning their respective seats. It's about gaining or retaining their power and ultimately "crossing over the aisle" to help Democrats pass legislation and further push their harmful agenda on the citizens of Connecticut. Fazio's "bi-partisanship" is another way of saying he's helping them pass their legislation. What happened to representing true Republican values?
We're not buying the "bi-partisan" nonsense. It only works one way - when Democrats benefit only.
We're fairly certain that Fazio and other like minded Republicans know they are alienating other Republican voters. Whether they wish it or not, "extremist" Republican voters exist and there are plenty of them out there. For Fazio et al, they are not even trying to court all Republicans. The strategy appears to be courting establishment Republicans and hope really hard that enough Democrats help secure a win.
Perhaps Fazio should really consider justifying his re-election to the state Senate to the entire Republican base. He will have a difficult time selling himself. Fellow "Old Guard" Republicans continue to praise his work but the Democrat agenda continues to move forward, especially with overbuilding, education and other pressing issues within Greenwich and the state.
Scenes like this do not help his cause.
