Greenwich First Selectman Finds Out That Democrats Can't Be Trusted

Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo (R) recently expressed his frustration and disappointment with the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee (GDTC) in a letter penned to the Greenwich Sentinel two days ago on October 15th after the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee (GDTC) placed political signs on town property throughout the town. Camillo is upset by the actions of the GDTC and accused them of not keeping their pledge with Republicans with regards to when political candidate signs may be place on public/town property.

The issue Camillo is referring to, began when the GDTC placed signs in various locations outside of an agreement between the two parties. The agreement, according to Camillo, stipulated that no political campaign signs would be displayed on town property until at least two weeks prior to Election Day. He further stated the agreement has been in place for 22 years. Camillo went on to say “Last year, my campaign made the decision not to place any signs on public property at all. The DTC and my opponent declined to join me in that choice, which is their right. However, choosing to completely disregard this long-standing agreement is a slap in the face to the voters and residents, who are tired of seeing public spaces cluttered with sign after sign during elections.”

GDTC campaign signs have been placed on town property for weeks already with many of these since September on private property. Democrats are eager to get their candidates faces out there and as you can see, haven’t wasted anytime.

While Camillo said he refrained from placing his campaign signs on town property during his last campaign, Democrats apparently do not feel the same way. Camillo added, “I’m also asking all candidates and both parties to keep signs off Put’s Hill, where the crocuses bloom each spring. That area honors veterans, and political signs don’t belong there. Unfortunately, signs have already been plastered all over it, and I’m asking them to take those signs down in respect for our veterans and the town’s character.”

Camillo: DTC and Their Candidates Refuse to Follow Sign Agreement Read

What Camillo and the rest of the Republican establishment in Greenwich, Connecticut and across the country do not seem to understand is that Democrats, who claim that “no one is above the law,” and that Republicans are “extremists,” “fascists,” and “far-right,” spend their time projecting while in fact they do very things they accuse Republicans of doing.

In this case, Camillo naively believed that Democrats would keep their word. Even an establishment Republican would have seen right through this. In fact, any Republican voters would have known better. Democrats are not in the business of keeping their word unless it fits their agenda. They will roll over their own to push their agenda. This sense of “bipartisanship” has become something of a joke, and no one should take any candidate seriously if they wave that flag. Establishment Republicans, on the other hand, will always find a way to help their Democrat counterparts all the while complaining that they themselves are getting steamrolled by the very people they play the bi-partisanship game with. Voters are fed up with the status quo and should really consider change on November 5th.  This whining is the only tool establishment Republicans have to convince you that something must be done. The reality is actions speak louder than words.

The days of establishment Republicans being useful puppets must come to an end.

Democrats and establishment Republicans only have their own agendas. It’s time to put the people first – Finally.
