  Greenwich Board of Education  As you may be aware, Greenwich Democrats appointed a fake republican, Jennifer Behette, to the Board of Education in a last-minute coup.  The Democrats did this knowing Ms. Behette would vote with the Democrats for every dime they want to spend. But if you thought that was brazen, there’s much more.  More recently Democrats out maneuvered the “Republicans” giving over $50 million dollars to their union friends. To make matters worse, this teacher’s union contract was negotiated so poorly that it cannot be contested by the Town Legislature, the “RTM,” because the Board of Education never submitted any counter proposals at all! Once the Democrats took over the Board of Education with their  Coup  you might imagine that the Republicans would vote “no” on everything after the Coup, as a form of protest, even if they agreed with the item at hand.  Nothing of the sort.   Greenwich, Connecticut is a great place to live, work and raise your children. For many of us who have lived in Town for any length of time, we know Greenwich is like no other place offering great amenities such as parks and beaches, good schools and vast resources. One advantage Greenwich has over other cities and towns in the state is we have one of the lowest, if not the lowest mill rate. Keeping out taxes low is a huge reason why Greenwich continues to be a desired location. While we as residents and taxpayers need to fund many of these services, we also do not want our Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET) to raise taxes and the mill rate because a certain segment of the population says so.  Democrats want to spend more of your money, especially for the Board of Education (BOE), which is about half of the Town overall budget. They are all there to read - as approved by majority of the same committee. There is seemingly no effort to hide their intent. The dysfunction of these two political entities, and by extension the Republican Town Committee (RTC) and Democrat Town Committee (DTC), is beyond outstanding, even to the point where legal action is now taking place in court, wasting time and taxpayer dollars. This dysfunction has been going on for quite a bit of time. Many within this woke environment are professors who, rather than instruct on the curriculum that students will need in their chosen fields, prefer to bring their own woke culture into the classroom which inevitably have students graduating less informed and with more activism. Many colleges and universities help perpetuate this un-academic environment by intentionally allowing it to occur and often publicly defending these professors and students. One of President Trump’s campaign promises is to encourage, through various programs, Americans attending vocational schools and community colleges. First Selectman’s Updates  First Selectman Camillo thanked the Registrar of Voters and the department’s staff at Town Hall as well as the Town Clerk and her staff and all the poll workers who worked during the first ever early voting at Town Hall. He noted that Election Day is no longer just the first Tuesday of November and “we have 15 election days now” because of early voting. Camillo pledged they would “get better” at getting results out in a timely fashion in future elections but reminded everyone that the Town had three different batches of votes to count, from Election Day, from early voting and from absentee ballots.
