Connecticut High School Young Republicans: Start a GOP Club!

Image
Screenshot (theepochtimes.com) In recent years, there has been a decline or lack of Republican clubs in Connecticut high schools. The shocking truth is that many schools in Connecticut have seen a decline in the presence of such clubs, leading to a lack of representation and discussion of conservative viewpoints among students. The absence of Republican clubs in Connecticut schools is concerning for a number of reasons. First, it limits the ability of students with conservative beliefs to engage in meaningful discussions about political beliefs and policies. Without a platform for these students to express their views and engage in debate, there is a risk of stifling intellectual growth and critical thinking skills among the student body. Additionally, the lack of Republican clubs in schools can create an echo chamber effect, where students are only exposed to a single political viewpoint. This can lead to a lack of understanding and empathy towards individuals with differing vie

The Legacy Media Apparatus Repeats History in a Dangerous Way

Image
Screenshot (Public Domain) Legacy media outlets, such as newspapers, television networks, cable news and radio stations, have long had a bias in favor of the Democratic Party. Critics argue that these media organizations act as operatives for the Democratic Party, pushing their agenda and unfairly portraying Republicans and conservatives. This bias has led to a lack of trust in traditional media among many Americans, who feel that they are not getting a fair and balanced view of the news. The legacy media are essentially Democratic operatives and have overwhelmingly liberal leanings of journalists and reporters. Studies have shown that the vast majority of journalists identify as Democrats, leading to concerns about bias in their reporting. This bias can manifest itself in the way stories are covered, the sources that are quoted, and the language that is used in news reports. These obvious biases shape the narrative presented to the public and influences public opinion in favor of th

Wold: Nothing Has Changed

Image
Screenshot (Public Domain) Submitted by David C. Wold, Greenwich Resident and Veteran The long-awaited announcement has taken place!! (not via any official Roster change, but anyway). Bill Drake  is still the Chair,  but after last meeting the First Selectman has changed his assignment in that Bill Drake is no longer representing and liaison with the BET (as he was not re-elected for same, nearly a year ago). He is now appointed by the First Selectman to ‘represent’ the  Greenwich Resident . This change is only taking effect now and does not affect his strong influence and vote to move the suggested MI forward to the Board of Selectmen, Board of Parks and Recreation and Planning and Zoning as BET representative, despite not even elected. We find that also with several others ‘representing.’  I like to remind you that Bill Drake was the one that issued the last newsletter (February 2024) that got posted by Town Hall after only having a few Committee members support and drafted sim

Wold: Rink User / BET Representation

Image
Screenshot (Public Domain) Submitted by David C. Wold, Greenwich Resident and Veteran Attending Wednesday’s meeting I was surprised by the few people attending and how little was actually shared about the park, it was more like an update of how successful the current program and use of the rink is (even if not yet open to the general public). To my surprise we were introduced to a new member, despite not announced in the agenda for the meeting and not a word from the First Selectman about the long-standing issue of his choice for Chair of the Committee, as his office has issued a statement that Bill Drake since November 2023 does not represent the BET.  As with any municipality that carry out elections and appointments, the question came up nearly a year ago when he no longer was elected to the BET, and at that time the First Selectman as a ‘thank you for your service’ on the same BET issued a PROCLAMATION that designated December 12, 2023, as ‘Bill Drake Day’.  Yesterday happene

Democrats: Abolish the Electoral College So We Can Win Every Election

Image
Screenshot (Public Domain) The Electoral College is a unique system that is used in the United States to elect the President and Vice President. It consists of 538 electors, with each state having a certain number of electors based on the total number of representatives and senators that state has in Congress. These electors are chosen by the political parties in each state and are required to cast their votes for the candidate who wins the popular vote in their state. The Electoral College was established by the framers of the U.S. Constitution as a compromise between electing the President by Congress or by popular vote. The Founding Fathers believed that this system would help to prevent smaller states from being overlooked in the presidential election process and would also serve as a check against a candidate who may be unfit for office. The way the Electoral College works is that on Election Day, voters in each state cast their ballots for the candidate of their choice. The

Wind Turbines: "Green Energy" With Many Problems

Image
Screenshot (Public Domain) Wind turbines have often been hailed as a green energy solution, providing clean and renewable electricity without the harmful emissions associated with fossil fuels. However, a closer look at the environmental impact and efficiency of wind turbines raises questions about their true sustainability. Wind turbines have long been heralded as a clean and green source of energy, touted as a sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. However, in recent years, concerns about the noise pollution generated by these towering structures have come to the forefront. Despite their eco-friendly image, wind turbines are not always as clean and green as they appear to be, particularly when it comes to the issue of noise pollution. The sound produced by wind turbines can be irritating and disruptive to those living in close proximity. The low-frequency noise emitted by the rotating blades can travel long distances, causing disturbances for residents in surround

The U.S. Constitution is a Good Read: Celebrating Constitution Day

Image
Screenshot (Public Domain) Constitution Day is observed on September 17th each year in the United States. This day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787, which established the framework for our government and has served as the supreme law of the land ever since. It is a day to reflect on the importance of this foundational document and the principles it upholds. The U.S. Constitution is a remarkable document that has stood the test of time and has remained relevant over more than two centuries. It is the oldest written national constitution still in use, and its principles of limited government, separation of powers, and individual rights have been emulated by countries around the world. The Constitution is a testament to the foresight and wisdom of the Founding Fathers, who crafted a document that could adapt to changing times while still preserving the core values of liberty and justice. Kamala Harris is not Interested in Capitalism

Image
Screenshot (Public Domain) Kamala Harris recently proposed a plan to implement price controls in an effort to address rising costs in the economy, the current economy she and her boss Joe Biden created. This is not well intentioned by any means. This approach would prove detrimental to the overall health of the economy. Price controls are a form of government intervention that sets limits on the prices that can be charged for goods and services. While this may seem like a way to protect consumers from price gouging, in reality, it can have serious negative consequences. Kamala is looking to turn our capitalistic economy into a socialist one. As we all know, these economies only benefit the wealthy elites and government actors, not the population as a whole. One of the main problems with price controls is that they distort market signals. Prices serve as an important mechanism in a market economy, signaling to producers and consumers the relative scarcity of goods and services. When
